Brockton, MA 02301 - 02305
Brockton is located between Boston and Providence,
and is the 6th largest city in Massachusetts. It’s the only city in Plymouth County, and is one of 2 county seats, the other being Plymouth. It has a population of approximately 97,000 in a total area of 21.6
sq. miles. It lies along the Salisbury River, which once powered its many shoe factories.
Route 24 passes through the west side of Brockton,
and the Middleborough-Lakeville line of the MBTA commuter line passes through on the eastern side. Brockton also has its own bus
line, called the BAT (Brockton Area Transit) bus line, which serves Brockton
and the surrounding communities.
Brockton is known as the
"City of Champions", due to the success of native boxers Rocky
Marciano and Marvin Hagler.
Its home to a golf course, and dozens of parks and playgrounds throughout
the city, the largest being D.W. Field
Park. It’s also home
to Campanelli Stadium (a minor league park) and the Brockton Rox. Cultural and artistic offerings can be found at Fuller Craft Mueum, and entertainment can be found at the Brockton Fair, one of America's oldest fairs, located
at the historic Brockton Fairgrounds.
Its the site
of Massasoit Community College, and three hospitals: Brockton Hospital, Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital, and the Brockton Veterans Administration Hospital.
