The town of Sharon is located in Norfolk County, 22 miles midway between Boston and Providence.  It has a population of approximately 18,000 in a total area of 24.2 sq. miles.  It's bordered by Route 95 to the west, and has access to Boston and Providence via MBTA commuter trains.

“A nice place to live because it’s naturally beautiful,” says a welcome sign in Post Office Square.

From the 1800s until the 1940s, Sharon was a summer resort to which people would come to stay at inns and hotels to enjoy the clean air and  Lake Massapoag.  The Lake is 350 acres of water, and is currently known for its concerts, fireworks, fishing, and good swimming on Memorial Beach.   The Town also holds the Massachusetts Audubon Society’s first wildlife sanctuary (2,250 acre Moose Hill Wildlife Sanctuary), and has 1,260 acres (60%) of Borderland State Park within its borders.  The town has been successful in preserving an additional 1,500 acres as public conservation land, totaling more than 5,000 acres of protected open space in Sharon.
